A big thank you to everyone who contributed to VICDA’s Christmas drive! I’m happy to report that nearly $7,000 was raised to assist families at Lemolo A and B and other IDP’s in need. A note from Irene is below, outlining how the funds were used.
We bought 157 pairs of school shoes, 650 families received Christmas dinner, we paid bill for treatment of 4 year old William who has been sick for the last 2 years, paid hospital bill for chairman of pipeline IDPs camp, bought food for Lemolo A and B schools which will serve kids for 4 months, bought stationaries for Lemolo A ECDE school.
She also sent along photos of the 157 pairs of shoe being distributed to the children at Lemolo. This is the first ever pair of shoes for most of these kids and, despite the blurry images, their joy is unmistakable!
Visit their website if you’d like to learn more about VICDA and the work that they do in Kenya. They are constantly fundraising for feeding programs, construction of new schools, digging of wells and other projects.
